Moon Birds

Image
I love moon; I love birds. I love to see and feel the birds flying in the night sky under moonlight. There is rapid movement beyond wind. There is synchronicity. There is communication beyond words. There are many - but they are one. Acrylic on canvas. 46 x 28 in. Moon Birds

Melody of Dream

Image
Richard Feynman, the renowned theoretical physicist, talked about the energy from the sunlight infuses into plants, trees, and then released from the fireplace burning of the wood - how wondrous! All forms change into other forms in time, all matters have their energies interact with each other. In the midst of the seemingly chaotic universe there are some very basic, fundamental principles operate eternally. That is the universal law. That is truly fascinating!   As Zen master Shunryu Suzuki said when a student once asked him to sum up Buddhism: "Everything changes." Acrylic on canvas. 32 x 34 in. Melody of Dream

Auspicious River

Image
Live long, live short, It doesn't matter. The mind continues. "The time is an illusion," wise people said that. I look into my life, life before, life ahead, The rich, dreamy experiences of coming and going. All is in flux. All is transitory. The profound consciousness remains. Tell me how to cut the water of river in half, Show me the way to divide time. The continuum of time is endless. Not here, not there. The energy manifests and changes; I can feel it. I am not too bright, I cannot see far, I don't know what is supposed to be. What's coming. The memory of time is deep in the forest, The green moss and stone walls scattered, In there I left my flute, But the melody still echoing. "Time River" - A poem written in 2018 re-write in 2022 Acrylic on canvas. 26 x 54 in. Auspicious River

Six Persimmons

Image
Chinese calligraphy painting: “Six Persimmons”. Original still life work. Inspired by the “Six Persimmons” from 13th-century Chinese painting; the painter was a monk, Muqi Fachang or Mu Ch’i Fa-Ch’ang of Song dynasty. Muqi was one of the two great exponents of the spontaneous mode of Chinese painting (the other being Liang Kai). It features six persimmons floating on an undefined, vast space. But all the marks are definite, full of life and nowness. Sumi ink on Chinese rice paper. 14″ by 24″. Signed by the seal of the artist: “existence and space (emptiness) are one.”    Another version:

Blue Rive Song

Image
The dream of my life  is to lie down by a slow river  and stare at the light in the trees— to learn something by being nothing a little while  but the rich  lens of attention.  —Mary Oliver, "Entering the Kingdom" Painting: Blue River Song. Acrylic on canvas, 26x52 in.

Angel's Wings

Image
The wings of an angel are glorious, The mind of an angel is vast, The heart of an angel is full of light and love. In a world filled with hate and sorrow, The angels are watching with tears in their eyes. Angel's Wings, acrylic on canvas. 32 x 44 inches Angel's Wings

Wings of Desire

Image
A angel is extending his (her) wings!  Let it go, or rather,  Let is be! Flying with the luminous light, Crossing the turbulent sea -  Covering the land of sorrow, With you boundless, pure passion! This is a good kind of desire - to be unconditionally kind! Enjoy the new wings, Enjoy the new found space - I don't need to be loud, I just need to be real. Dedicate to dear Sue F., my beloved heart friend.  Wings of Desire, acrylic on paper. 22 x 30 inches Wings of Desire

Waiting for Spring

Image
I lost my tongue this winter I got very  quiet, sit well,  Stare into the white space a lot. Sometimes I read some newspapers, And the antsy black prints hurt my mind's peace. The world is very, very loud right now: I heard the geese, the squirrels, cars and trains, Human fighting, animal biting. I heard the  snow flaks falling, too. This winter I've gone into  An amazing white land of bliss. Where every color is so vibrant with lights, Even the vulture is in rainbow colors! I heard music of flutes, Flowing as the melting brooks. Ice bumps into each other, dead grass revived, And my heart is warm again. This winter is indeed a good season, And the spring is just around the corner! Let's breathe a little bit - Into the cool air, with our heat and hope. Waiting for Spring, acrylic on wood. 24 x 24 inches Waiting for Spring

The Streets of Love and Hate

Image
The Subtlety of Gray, acrylic on canvas, 36 x 36 inches The streets of love, and the streets of hate. The feeling of not enough, and the feeling of hurt. Wanting and more wanting, Trying to get praise and respects. Let it go, let it go, drop them all, from now on. The streets of happiness, and the streets of sorrow. The streets of greed, The streets of despise. The streets of unwelcome The street of scare… The streets that I've never known they exist And the hidden corners, on the dark side of the streets. The streets of thieves, The streets of robbers, The streets of hookers, And the streets of humans, mothers and fathers, Brothers and sisters. The streets of angels and the streets of devils. The streets of grays. The grays that have no names. (Inspired by my mom's dream: when my grandfather told her: Don't walk on that road... ) Yeachin Tsai Fine Art

Up and Down

Image
You can be happy, If you find the strength within, With or without me. The shiny pearl, the tiny amber, of joy and love. It is always in your heart. If you can see it, you won't be lonely again, not for long. With or without me. Up and down movements of the floating world "Life is naturally fraught with ups and downs." I am bruised, and battered, You as well, I know. And it is all fine, my friend, If we have faith in the timeless beauty within. The darkness comes upon me, and the cheerful sun breaks the clouds. In the ups and downs of emotions, Dance with me, slowly. Winter snow, Dreams of warmth and heat. The memory of home, Maybe it's not too far? If you Feel. Yeachin Tsai Floating World

The Big Wave

Image
If you are big, Nothing can stop you. The difficulty of life, the pain and tears, everything would enrich you. If you are big, the sky above, the earth you stand on, the water below - they will support you. You will open your senses: The vast mind, the big heart, Will hear the cries and laughters, Will see all the colors and forms, Will feel hot and cold, sad and joy, The spectrum of all emotions. You will fly over the world and beyond, if You are truly big. Not fake. Following the wave, Riding on the wind. Seeing the light, and so be it. If you are big, you are not afraid. Not afraid of being human. We could big and humble, at the same time... Painting: The Wave 01, acrylic on wood panel. 18 x 18 inches, 2019 new series. (Inspired by Hokusai's Wave and Lina Wertmüller's movie Swept Away.) Yeachin Tsai Fine Art

Winter Joy - Solo Show

Image
I love Mary Oliver’s poems. I love to walk with her scenery through those magical, simple words. Like the one pagraph I read this morning: I often think of Beethoven rising, when he couldn’t sleep, stumbling through the dust and crumpled papers, yawning, settling at the piano, inking in rapidly note after note after note. ~Mary Oliver, 1935, Dream Work In my upcoming show: Winter Joy, the simple images came from “note after note” - it is often the result of many mistakes and trying... Finally there is one sastisfying composition that I can settle with. The opening is on Jan. 25, 2019, Pause Gallery at the downtown Troy, NY. You are cordially invited! Please read Dr. Robert R. Shane’s essay on the show here: https://www.yeachintsaifineart.com/the-musicality-and-mysticism-of-the-mundane

Timely Rain

Image
Again and again, I remember this poem from Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche's "Timely Rain": In the jungles of flaming ego, May there be cool iceburg of bodhicitta. On the racetrack of bureaucracy, May there be the walk of the elephant. May the sumptuous castle of arrogance Be destroyed by vajra confidence. In the garden of gentle sanity, May you be bombarded by coconuts of wakefulness. Acrylic on rice paper mounted on canvas.

Waterfall

Image
Remembering the sound, smell, light, and magic of waterfalls. Everything changes constantly, drastically. Standing by the waterfalls: just be, here and now. Be still in all the movements. Aware of the energy flowing. It's like having a good conversation with the universe. The present moment contains everything. Bathing in the moment of complete fullness... The Swan Did you too see it, drifting, all night, on the black river? Did you see it in the morning, rising into the silvery air - An armful of white blossoms, A perfect commotion of silk and linen as it leaned into the bondage of its wings; a snowbank, a bank of lilies, Biting the air with its black beak? Did you hear it, fluting and whistling A shrill dark music - like the rain pelting the trees - like a waterfall Knifing down the black ledges? And did you see it, finally, just under the clouds - A white cross Streaming across the sky, its feet Like black leaves, its wings Like the str...

Autumn Storm

Image
The autumn storm swept away all the remaining leaves on the trees. The  snow is falling and the  winter is coming. Appreciating the changes of seasons and changes of life. It is not a bad thing; it is powerful and fulfilling. Acrylic on canvas. 40 x 40 in.   See this piece on Saatchi
