The Heart of Compassion

Always remember the suffering of beings, including ourselves and others. Maintain a soft, tender heart.

Chinese calligraphy: "Sorrow/ Compassion." Sumi ink on rice paper.

“Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It's a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.”

Three Pears

Inspired by the Zen art. Simple marks could be most interesting and effective. Simplicity often implies humor. Sumi ink on raw silk, mounted on acid free thick paper. The Space and the Landscape

We exist in the space. Everything needs space. We have tremendous space within and around us. Between everything, everyone, every living being, there is the need for the balanced, healthy space as the base of a good relationship.

Chine-collé is a special technique in printmaking, in which the image is transferred to a surface that is bonded to a heavier support in the printing process. This work is combined with etching and Chine-collé (textured rice paper.) It is an original etching work inspired by the beauty and mystery of nature, and the spacious and meaningful space of the traditional Chinese landscape painting. The images size is 8.25 x 11 inches. The paper size is 11 x 15 inches. Artist proof, unique print. Artist signed.

All Things have Yin and Yang Aspects

All things have yin and yang aspects. They are complementary, not opposing forces. The so-called dualities such as female and male, dark and light, low and high, cold and hot, water and fire, weak and strong..., all but the manifestations of the yin-yang. In Chinese ancient science "I Ching", the supreme source of yin-yang is "Tai Chi". When we favor one over the other, the natural balance is lost in between the two elements, the disaster happens.

Abstract is an Open Status of Your Subconscious Mind

"Abstract is an open status of your subconscious mind." The world is more than what we perceived with our limited senses. Have faith in that.

"Koi Series" is a body of work inspired by the mysterious and wonderful pattern and color of the Japanese Koi fish. The original works are done with sumi ink, in some cases, with acrylic pigments.

Longevity

Chinese calligraphy: "Longevity" 壽, in cursive script style (grass-hand). Original work. Unframed. A life of longevity is wonderful, but a long, meaningful life is blissful. Without meaning, life is an empty journey filled with things that can not completely satisfy us. We will never be content and happy if we lead a meaningless life.

Black sumi ink on textured red color, golden dragon line background Chinese rice paper. 12" by 13". Signed with the seal of the artist: "the heart of the Buddha." The calligraphy itself is professionally double-mounted on another piece of thicker rice paper, so the surface is totally flattened. Ready to be put into a frame.

Earth, Water, Fire, and Air

Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space - all the elements that composed this world from ancient universal system. It is actually not too far away from modern scientific theories. For example, in our body, the flesh, muscle and bone are earth; the blood and liquid are water; heat (temperature) is fire; and our breath is air - all these elements have tremendous space in between, as modern physics has proved.

Since we are composed with elements, our wholesomeness depends on the balance of them. Too much earth, we are too heavy; too much water, we will be swelling; too much heat, we have a fever; not enough air, we are winded. All kinds of illness come from the imbalance of the elements. It can extend to very subtle levels.

Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche said in his book "Healing with Form, Energy, and Light": "... If we relate to the natural world as a collection of lifeless mechanical processes, it is lifeless for us. If we relate to our bodies as machines, they are machines to us. If we relate to religion as a fantasy, it is a fantasy to us. But if we relate to the natural world as alive, full of spirits and elemental beings, the natural world speaks to us... Thinking in terms of the elements does not mean giving up our understanding of modern chemistry, physics, medicine, and psychology. The elements give us a more fundamental metaphor that helps to explain the dynamics that lie beneath these different disciplines."

"Four Elements: Earth, Water, Fire, and Air"- Archival quality digital prints (giclee prints), each one is an individual piece.
